The rebels declared war on ISIS when the regime grown it and kept it protected. While the regime never once bombed ISIS and its strongholds in the north; it arrested, tortured and killed peaceful activists and bombarded civilians on breadlines and in souks.

Isn’t time yet for the pundits in the West examine the organic relation between ISIS and the regime? I believe their apparent leader Zawahiri told ISIS to get out of Syria (and leave it to JN) not long ago which they ignored.

Conclusions from the events:

This confirms what I thought since the beginning. Western countries make juicy profits from their relations with backward Israel and KSA.

A lot of ordinary people and many politicians are now in damage control mode after realizing that the heroes they hailed for three years are seen as terrorists by others, This is why you hear hilarious statements from political pimps like Rifi and Daher of Lebanon and burnt figures in the Syrian “opposition” such as : Hizbullah bombed itself in Addahiyeh, Hizbullah is the other face of ISIS, and that ISIS was made by the Syrian intelligence, etc.
The bottom line is still the same, for Syria to have a chance, hardliners need to be sidelined and the two main hurdles for a settlement (Assad inner circle and the Islamists) should not be in the driving seat. I do not know why it is considered a sin by Assad supporters to even talk about ending the man’s 14 years in power next year and why thugs with beards and guns are supposed to represent Syria’s 18 million Sunni !!

(BTW, it looks like rebels killed more Syrians and other rebels than the regime did since the beginning of the year, the picture is so grim that facebook pages which support the regime are joking that the only supplies Syrian soldiers want now it Matte and Nuts since they just need to watch their enemies kill each other)

My guess is that ISIS has sent many fighters to Iraq and that the IF is taking advantage of its temporary weakness.

We saw something similar when Raqqa was conquered. That involved many fighters who had been transferred from the Western regions and as a results the government troops had some successes there.

The old Western ruse of “enemy” may have worked a few years back. But now the contradictions are playing simultaneously and in neighboring countries in such way that the ruse is exposed as a blatant lie.
US top diplomat John Kerry must have taken us for fools. Earlier this week, speaking in Saudi Arabia, he warned that al-Qaeda in Syria and Iraq are “the most dangerous players in the region.”

The US secretary of state vowed Washington’s support for the Iraqi government in its fight to regain control of towns in its western province taken over by militants belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

That’s rich. The government of Syria is battling to root out these same al-Qaeda-linked militants. But in that country, Washington offers no such support. In fact, the priority there for Washington is to sack the government of President Bashar Al-Assad.

So, how does Kerry square that contradiction? In Iraq, al-Qaeda is a threat that needs to be defeated, whereas in Syria the very same organization is apparently not a threat, but the Syrian government is.

I watched the YouTube link JL posted in regard to ISIS executing prisoners held in the hospital in Aleppo before their withdrawal. The images are not different than the YouTube images of the massacre in Sydnaia prison at the hand of Maher al Assad!

Who are these people? What a land of evil have we come from? I just can not believe the evilness that Assad regime and the so called Islamists of ISIS have revealed. We lived with those animals?! I feel the same shock and fury as you about the cruelty and stupidity of those fantasist power trip “holy warriors”.

But no need to be mystified about them. There is a lot of information out there now about the profiles of al quaeda recruits. If you take members of ISIS and check their background and life history you will find a pack of misfits and rejects who have problems in normal society.

A substantial percentage have some form of mental illness, irrational hangups or emotional problems. Others are outlaws or dropouts from school or the workforce, some are just criminals and bullies, others young, ignorant and recklessly looking for thrills.

I am willing to say that in the case of some of the Syrian recruits they may have joined after being driven mad by their experiences in the current conflict. Others already had tendencies that matched ISIS behaviors and delusions.

Interesting that for aspiring “holy warriors” or terrorists in non-conflict countries increasingly those who report them to the authorities are family members. They want them stopped on their dead end journey and sobered up.

Isis and other Islamist rebel groups are different shades of the same color, it just happened that Isis has become a political liability and a greedy thief that refuses to share the revenues from stolen oil , wake up and smell the flowers, you can not make chicken soup out of chicken poop.

The conflict is degenerating into the same one in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In that conflict 4 million people died. No one is interested in this conflict any longer. ISIS is launching counter attacks now and it does not look like the war for power, oil and loots among Islamists will end any time soon. In one incident, ISIS made good on its threat and withdrew from a town near Aleppo allowing the army to take it without a fight. The human tragedy at the Yarmouk is a disgrace and an indication of how ugly and evil Syria has become. Aljazeera and anti regime media predictably want people to believe that the suffering of Syrians and Palestinians there is simply due to a blockade by regime forces. I happen to know quite a bit about the disaster in Yarmouk for personal reasons, and the truth is that Yarmouk, like most of Syria, is suffering because fighting parties, including some Palestinian fighters, have stopped caring about people who do not carry guns or have money. Yarmouk was fine, carefully said, until rebels came in uninvited and occupied buildings and streets, they looted many houses and even hanged a number of Palestinians accused of collaborating with the regime. There is no presence of the Syrian army inside the camp now and it looks like God decided to forget about Yarmouk also. Tara opened an old wound but I had to respond because people need to realize that there are no good players in this war and pointing the finger at one side in Yarmouk case is not just wrong it is dishonest (not referring to you tara).

Russia rejected a UN Security Council draft statement tabled by Britain on the situation in Syria as “Unbalanced and doesn’t mention the crimes of the opposition”.
Russian diplomatic source told ITAR TASS Thursday that Russia rejected a draft statement proposed by Britain, which calls for condemning the Syrian government, but does not refer to the crimes of the opposition.
The source pointed out that Russia described the draft statement as “unbalanced’, asserting that “amendments should be made in the draft statement as it should mention the opposition’s crimes”.
Members of the UN Security Council failed to coordinate a draft statement on the situation on Syria for the second time this month.

Mr. Ghalioun is admitting that Syria’s problems today are not only due to the presence of a brutal and corrupt regime but also due to the failure of the opposition to come up with a national agenda that unites Syrians and ends the war. Most of what I am hearing from both sides is exclusionary statements that are full of hatred and vengeance, there will be no hope for an end to this war until Syrians decide whether they want to divide the country or accept their differences and live under one roof, in either way this war needs to stop and Assad family’s reign of power should come to an end.

بكل تأكيد فإن الثورة تشعر بأنها أصيبت بجرح عميق، فبعد كل الذي جرى وما قام به الأسد يطلب من الشعب السوري أن يتفاوض مع جلاده وقاتله، وهو بكل تأكيد من الصعب فهمه فضلا عن تقبله، لكننا يجب أن نعترف بأننا لن نستطيع تحقيق نصر عسكري دون تدخل عسكري، وطالما أنه ليس هناك أي تدخل عسكري في الوقت الحالي فلابد من اتباع طرق أخرى من أجل تحقيق الهدف ذاته وهو إسقاط النظام عبر الوسائل السياسية، فجنيف معركة سياسية أكثر صعوبة من المعركة العسكرية على الأرض، لكن إذا نجحت المعارضة السياسية في كسبها فإنها ستحقق نصرا حقيقيا، لا سيما وأن الكلمة المفتاح في جنيف والتي اتفقت كل الأطراف عليه هي تشكيل جسم انتقالي، سواء فهم الروس أن الأسد جزء منه أو لا، فإن الأطراف الدولية اتفقت كلها على أن سوريا لن تحكم عبر الأسد في المرحلة الانتقالية، وإنما من خلال هذا الجسم الانتقالي، فإذا ما نجحت المعارضة السورية في تركيز كل المفاوضات القادمة في جنيف على تشكيل هذا الجسم يكون إسقاط النظام قد تحقق عبر وسائل سياسية، يبقى تطبيق هذا الاتفاق عند إنجازه، وهنا غالبا ما تلعب الأطراف الراعية أدوارا في تنفيذه لأن مصداقيتها في عقد المؤتمر تتعلق بقدرتها على تنفيذ توصياته، وقد نجحت مسبقا في إجبار الأسد على تنفيذ الاتفاق الخاص بالسلاح الكيماوي وتسليمه، وبالتالي فهناك فرص كبيرة ربما تتحقق في إجبار الأسد على التنازل عن السلطة لصالح هذا الجسم الانتقالي صاحب الصلاحيات الكاملة التنفيذية والتشريعية، بما فيها الصلاحيات الأمنية والعسكرية، وأن هذا الجسم سيعود من جنيف إلى دمشق للحكم كما ذكر الإبراهيمي، وبالتالي المعركة الحقيقية بين المعارضة يجب أن تكون حول نذهب أم لا نذهب إلى جنيف، أو من سيذهب إلى جنيف ومن لا يذهب؟ وإنما المعركة الصادقة كيف ننجح في إنجاز هذا الجسم الانتقالي ذي الصلاحيات الكاملة بالسرعة القصوى لسحب الشرعية السياسية والقانونية من الأسد وحكومته وتسليمها إلى هذا الجسم، فالمعرفة الحقيقة هي تشكيل وتحديد أسماء وصلاحيات هذه الهيئة الانتقالية التي ستحكم سوريا المستقبل من دون الأسد.
